Senior Gavin Nash ended his era as a Deshler Dragon football star, and is set to begin one as a Doane University Tiger on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023. Before the student body, Gavin's accolades while in high school were recognized, including that he was a:
- Varsity letterman since his freshman year
- Team captain the past two years
- District first team offense as a punter and second team as an end and Honorable Mention in the Hastings Tribune as a senior
- District first-team quarterback and honorable mention all-state as a junior
- District second team quarterback his sophomore year, and
- District honorable mention quarterback his freshman year.
His hard work in the classroom has also helped him to earn Academic All-State his sophomore, junior and senior years.
Gavin has been selected as the recipient of the Perry Academic Scholarship at Doane, valued at $21,000 per year; the Doane Legacy Award, valued at $1000 per year; and will be receiving a $7,000 football scholarship to play next year at Doane College. Over the course of four years, this equates to $116,000 in scholarship money because of Gavin’s hard work in the classroom and on the field.
Gavin is the son of Josh and Amy Nash, and the brother to Paiton and Easton.
Congratulations, Gavin Nash, on a job well done in high school, and best of luck as a Doane Tiger!
