Post-Prom is doing something a little different and adding a little “extra” touch to the arrival of the Juniors and Seniors at Prom.  We’d like to add a “Red Carpet” walk as the kids arrive – a chance to get out of their vehicles and show their attire a little longer, a chance for the general public to view them all dressed up a little more, AND a chance for parents to get a few more candid shots.  We have asked Art Whitton to come and he graciously agreed and so will be there Saturday for any kids that choose to participate.  These pictures are just candid shots and are NOT taking the place of the professional shots that are taken inside during Prom.  Any snapshots he takes will be provided to parents and kids!  Participation in the “Red carpet” walk and “cruise” is optional.  It’s ok if your child would prefer to only participate in the promenade.

We thought it might be helpful to add a little timeline of events of the evening – most of can probably relate to kids that “have it all figured out”, but maybe don’t communicate with us parents about the details!

5:00 – All prom attendees will be visiting the residents of the nursing home.  When the kids arrive at the nursing home, we suggest they park on the east side of the street, so that they are headed in the right direction for the cruise.

5:30 – Students can take their cars for a “cruise” up 4th street and then line up for the “red carpet” walk at the fairgrounds.  They can also choose (1) not to “cruise” and just line up on the south end of the fairgrounds after the nursing home, or (2) if they choose not to drive up to the red carpet, they may park their cars and walk up also.  For those in vehicles, please go to the south end of the fairgrounds and line up.

5:45 - The “drive” up to the red carpet will start at the south end of the fairgrounds (just north of the cattle barn, and then follow the road up to the cement pad where Bingo normally takes place.  Kids can get out of their cars  (all on concrete, all the way into the building) and walk the carpet.  We will have a few Post-Prom Committee dads that will park the cars then on the west side of the building for the evening.  Again, there is NO requirement to participate in this part if you don’t feel comfortable with someone else parking  your vehicles.  When the kids exit their cars, Art will be getting some candid shots that sometimes capture those smiles we don’t get in our “posed” attempts.  The kids are allowed to use their expression here (within the rules of Deshler Public Schools!).  If they want to walk in calmly, great!  IF they want to wear sunglasses and dance their way in, great!  It’s a dance and we’re just encouraging them to enjoy themselves.

Parents will line the sides of the carpet and are welcome to take any pictures they want.  After the kids walk up the carpet, they will enter the south room of Activity Center.  Only the students and dates will be allowed in the south room, as Mr. LeFave and Mrs. Parks will be lining them up in there for the Promenade.  After all students are through the red carpet walk, parents and the general public will enter the west doors of the activity building into the North (Big) room where promenade will take place.

6:00 – The Prom Sponsors (Mr. LeFave and Mrs. Parks)  will start Promenade in the North (Big) Room and announce the Juniors and Seniors.

6:15 – Coronation will take place, also coordinated by the Prom Sponsors.

After Coronation, Jr/Sr parents who are helping will meet in the South room and begin to set up for Post Prom.  All other visitors are asked to leave.
