Mental Health First Aid

DPS counselor Stacie Heldt, Youth Outreach Coordinator Hannah Kane, and Principal Dana Epley took part in the Mental Health First Aid Training sponsored by Brodstone Healthcare on Monday, July 31st in Superior, NE for area schools and healthcare leaders.  Participants earned certification aimed to help those suffering from mental health challenges.

More than 20 million Americans experience a mental health challenge in any given year, and DPS wants our students to know when and how to ask for help.  We learned to recognize signs and symptoms to suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally, and how to give reassurance to a young person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge.

If you or your child are not comfortable asking for help, there is a list of professional resources for support below.  You can also go to https://www.psychologytoday.co... and enter your ZIP code to find help specific to what you are experiencing.  Help us to #BeTheDifference in the lives of children and youth living with mental health challenges.
