Interested in becoming a teacher? We/DPS can help YOU earn your transitional teaching permit through UNK (or another approved program)!
Interested in being a local substitute at DPS? We can help you with that as well! HERE is information on the local sub certificate, and HERE is a link showing information when the classes are offered online through CCC.
Programs such as the Transitional Certification Program (TCP) is an alternative pathway recognized by the Nebraska Department of Education that leads to an Initial Teaching Certificate. One example is UNK's TCP which allows participants to obtain a teaching position at the start of their program and teach under a Transitional Permit or an Alternative Program Teaching Permit while completing the coursework requirements needed to obtain an Initial Nebraska Teaching Certificate in the endorsement area(s) for which they are eligible.
Once an applicant is determined to be eligible for the program, and DPS has offered you a job, the college will partner with you to get your Transitional Permit (or Alternative Program Teaching Permit when applicable). DPS must submit a written request to the college with this documentation.
