Gissler

A recent graduate of Concordia University in May 2024, Peyton Gissler graduated from high school at Malcolm Public Schools in 2020. She then went on to Concordia, where she recently graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education, concentrating in Social Sciences.

Gissler worked for an after school program in high school similar to what DPS has in place, one where students are worked with on their homework and more individualized attention. In addition to this, Gissler has helped at Vacation Bible School throughout high school and college, as well as having various practicum placements in the second grade:

  • 2nd grade at Centennial Public Schools in Utica, NE

  • 2nd grade at St. Johns Private School in Seward, NE

  • 2nd Grade at Milford Public Schools in Milford, NE

Ms. Gissler stated that family is very important to her, including her mom Angie Gissler, her dad Layne Gissler, and her brother Seth Gissler. Gissler's mom is from this area originally, as well as her aunts Jody Vondra and Marcy Kremer, who had the maiden name of Gunn and were from Chester, NE. Her grandma, Artie Gunn, and her brother currently reside in Chester as well.

In her free time, Gissler loves to read a good book, spend time outside in nature, listen to music, run, and hang out with her family and friends. Fittingly enough, Gissler's love of running will carry over to her extra duty assignment of helping to coach high school track!

Gissler's excitement about returning to the second grade classroom is evident as she stated, "I am so excited to be able to teach in a small community, and teach my favorite grade. I have always loved 2nd grade. They are absolutely the best. I also grew up in a small community and love the atmosphere of it. I think this is the perfect place for growth as a first year teacher."

Help us to welcome Ms. Gissler to second grade, Deshler, and to our small community and school that she is so excited to teach in! Ms. Gissler will be taking over for Mrs. Mikayla Meyer, who has taken a year of leave, as she and her husband are expecting their third child.
