It's that time of year...school supply shopping and class registration!

CLASS REGISTRATION

  3. Enter all information below in order to have your class schedule changed BY AUGUST 1ST.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

New student registration will be held on 
Wed., Aug. 7th from 8 AM - 11:30 AM and from 12:30 - 3:30 PM.

REQUIRED PAPERWORK

NSAA SPORTS PHYSICALS FOR GRADES 7-12 ARE DUE BY 8/1/24:  You cannot practice without a physical and NSAA consent form. Fall conditioning begins on Monday, August 5th, and practices begin on the 12th!

Deshler Public Schools requires that all students in athletic programs have injury and accident insurance and encourages all students who are in classes at risk of personal injury or accident to have insurance coverage. Deshler Public Schools does not make recommendations nor handle the premiums or claims for any insurance company, agent, or carrier.   Information about student insurance providers will be available in the school office or on school bulletin boards.

Also, any students who want to change their schedule IN PERSON (Google Form is the preferred method!) should attend New Student Registration on August 7th to drop/add classes if those currently listed in PowerSchool are not correct (these will not show up until after 7/12/24). 

OPEN HOUSE

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our Open House on Wednesday, August 14th.

Rundown on the night:

  • 4 PM:  Juniors and seniors in sports will have their poster pictures taken.

  • 5 PM: Grades 6-12 students and parents wanting to eat the burger meal deal in the cafeteria should eat during this time (or visit classrooms).

  • 7 PM:  ALL 6TH-12TH GRADE PARENTS are asked to attend the Nebraska Coaches' Association speaker in the HS gym.

ALL PAPERWORK should be signed and taken care of PRIOR TO this night.  Be looking for a link from DPS in the next couple of weeks to complete this.  Payments can also be dropped off ahead of time or there will be forms to complete and leave at the end of the night as well.  Computer insurance is highly encouraged for those in grades K-12 as the laptop warranty has expired and will cost $75 each time the device is sent in without coverage.

Insurance is as follows:

  • $15 for one student

  • $25 for two students

  • $35 for 3 or more students

The community hamburger feed sponsored by the school and served by the Lion's Club will be held on this night from 5-7 PM.

SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

Please note that all K-8 students (and any other students in PE) will need to have PE shoes! These don't need to be new, but they do need to be free from rocks & debris.

HANDBOOKS

Handbooks will be signed electronically by students and parents. This year, there is BOTH an

Items to point out in these handbooks:

  • Ineligible? You will turn your cell phone into the office at the beginning of the day. While cell phones are NOT to be used during classtime, students in 9th - 12th grade do have access to them at lunch & between class periods. This year, if you are ineligible, you are not have your cell phone on you during the school day.

  • Complaint? Wait until the following day to take it up with a coach/sponsor unless it is an emergency. If you can't come to an agreement, then you will contact the A.D. Please make sure to follow the chain of command unless it is an emergency in nature!

  • Concussion? Make sure to follow the protocol in the handbook!

  • Pajamas? Not at school! Students will be asked to change if they wear pajamas or other clothing that is in violation of the student handbook (with the exception of dress up days for Homecoming, etc.).

  • Want to enroll in Dual Credit in Grades 10-12? You must meet the minimum requirements or have a parent waiver form signed (pages 15-16 of the Student Handbook; waiver on the last page of the handbook).

  • Planners in Middle School? Use of these will be part of our career readiness standards AND grading!
