We are honored to have Master Sergeant Shiane "Sledge" Dunlap join us on November 11th at 10 AM for our annual Veterans Day Program in the Deshler Public Schools' high school gym. 


Master Sergeant (MSgt) Dunlap is a MQ-9Reaper Instructor Sensor Operator in the Iowa Air National Guard, Air Force Combatant Command, 124th Attacks Squadron, in Des Moines, IA. She provides Global Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Support. 


MSgt Dunlap joined the Active Duty (AD) Air Force in March 2013. Upon completion of Basic and Technical Training, she was assigned to the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), 33rd Attacks Squadron, at Cannon AFB, NM. At Cannon AFB, she received multiple awards and decorations for her service. These include 14 Aerial Achievement medals, Remote Combat Effects Campaign medal, the Diamond Sharp award, Group Airman of the Quarter, multiple Squadron Airman of the Quarter awards, the Air Force Achievement Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal. 


After her initial enlistment ended with AD, MSgt Dunlap joined the Iowa Air National Guard. There she became an instructor in her career field and assists with standards and evaluations shop. Since being there, she has earned two Aerial Achievement medals, a second Air Force Commendation Medal, and an Air Reserves Forces Meritorious Service medal. 


She is currently enrolled in the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, and has completed her Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, Airmen Leadership School, and earned her associates degree in Air and Space Technologies. 

MSgt Dunlap has over 2,400 combat flying hours in the MQ-9 Reaper, an unmanned aerial platform. With over 10 years of service as a Sensor Operator, while actively flying, she has also earned her Senior Aviator Badge.


Master Sergeant Shiane Dunlap plans on continuing her career with the Iowa Air National Guard until retirement. 

Shiane is married to Joseph Dunlap who is a retired Army Command Sergeant Major and they have two beautiful children:  Lincoln and Hazelynn Dunlap. They met at the dog park in Alamogordo, NM while Shiane was there for training and Joseph was working with the Air Force as a civilian. 


Thank you to the Dunlaps for their service, and to Master Sergeant Shiane Dunlap specifically, for being our speaker on Veterans Day. We want to remind all veterans that there will be a grab and go breakfast provided by the junior class on this date following the program.
