Welcome to Crystal Miller, the newest addition to the DPS staff! Miller stepped in to the cafeteria position in the past few weeks & has done a phenomenal job! Miller graduated from Fairbury High school in 2010 and earned her dietary managment certification through the University of South Dakota. She is ServSafe Management certified and has accounting basics through Southeast Community College.
Miller spent roughly 10 years working at Casey's in Hebron, learning every shift but the general manager. While at Caseys, she was given the opportunity to train as a kitchen leader, and she used that experience to propel her into the next couple jobs that she had. Miller was given an opportunity to try her hand at Dietary Management within a nursing home and assisted living facility, before becoming the kitchen manager at the York Middle School during the 2020-2021 school year.
Because working with the kids was so fun for her, and she was used to feeding nearly 300 kids a day, the much-closer-to-home position here at DPS was a great fit for Miller and her family.
Miller and her husband Mark have been married for 11 years. Her husband owns his own business called M C Builders, and he spends the majority of his time away from home working. The Millers have two in middle school: Falynn in 8th grade and Kaisley in 6th grade. Teddy is the youngest and is in 3rd grade.
A reader herself, Miller likes to disappear into the stories and worlds of fictional books (the thicker, the better!) paperbacks, audiobooks and podcasts. She likes to to "listen to other nerds talk about the books" that she has read! Miller also enjoys watching her kids participate in their extracurricular activities.
She loves being able to see the all of the kids at DPS more and is enjoying getting to know the community better!
Welcome, Crystal! We are happy to have you at DPS! And I know that your kids are too...as Falynn said, "It is awesome having my mom here!"
