Mrs. Norder has her degree in 7-12 English Education & English as a Second Language from Hastings College.  She was on the Dean’s List there, as well as being on the women’s soccer team.  She is married to Grant Norder and has been at Fairbury Public Schools the last two years working as a K-12 English Language Teacher, after student teaching in Ralston. She was also a sponsor for the Spanish club, assistant VB and JH boys’ track, and was on both the MTSS team that focused on juniors and seniors, as well as on the school improvement team for MTSS, at Fairbury.

Norder graduated from Gretna High School & Hastings College before moving to Bruning in the Summer of 2023. Norder says that her and her husband have a perfect rescue dog, Essi, who brings sunshine wherever she goes. She has three older brothers (who are all lucky to be married to their wonderful wives with one beautiful niece and another niece/nephew due in April) and two great brothers-in-law. Her parents are still in Gretna and her in-laws live in Bruning as well. The Norders both come from very sports-focused families along with hers being strong in music and theater.

What does a perfect evening for Mrs. Norder look like? Her husband Grant would be distracted by sports, she would be reading a book with coffee or tea, and Essi would be cuddled up, looking like a donut. Mrs. Norder states she loves "to spend time outside walking or running with my dog or hunting and fishing with Grant. "

When asked why she chose Deshler, Mrs. Norder stated that she is "most excited about returning to the traditional classroom and building relationships with every student. My goal is to push students further than they think they can go while preparing them to be citizens of this world." Norder's experience in working with students of various socioeconomic backgrounds and grade levels, and knowing the importance of relationships and personalizing educational strategies to meet students where they are at, are what we are most excited about at DPS!

She has experience with tutoring, teaching 9th-12th grade English, working with speech therapy, and experience with StudySync (our ELA curriculum at Deshler). With a goal of strengthening students to see themselves in a positive light, we believe her dedication, energy and heart will allow her to become a very successful member of the DPS team!

Please help us welcome Mrs. Norder to Dragon nation and to high school English!
