Incoming sophomore Makenna Freitag didn't meet the age requirements to take SCC classes as a freshman, so she did her research & found Metropolitan Community College offered FREE tuition if you met their requirements - which she did! Summer band for High School will start next week each day at 6:00 pm to practice for the Thayer County parade on August 6th. Monday July 28th, will be percussion only. Starting Tuesday July 29th will be full band.

When they say teacher created state test, this is what they mean. NWEA, HMH, and teachers from all over the state come together for a week to write test questions for Math, Language Arts, and Science. Mrs Wachtel participated this year as she has done for more than 20 years.
DPS elementary teachers have a few new faces & ALL have been getting in a lot of professional development hours this summer from curriculum alignment to the NSLA Summer Literacy Institute, NSCAS Math testing alignment, and taking on new roles from MTSS to curriculum director.

Day 2 of FFA Officer Retreat was jam packed! The day started by finishing the chapter program of activities for the year. The officers are excited for another busy year. The team also identified their strengths as individuals and grouped them into categories to discover their team’s strengths and weaknesses. The afternoon was spent tubing and exploring on the beautiful Niobrara River. In the evening, officers planned a meal and had 10 minutes to shop for it, while staying under budget. They made supper as a group. In the evening, they worked on planning several of the events FFA hosts throughout the year. Day 3 has started at the beautiful Frederick Peak Golf Club in Valentine before we start the treck home.
