Recently, in preschool the students completed a process art project using marbles, paint and a cut out of an apple. Students were able to pick a color of paint for their apple, and then used their arms and hands to move the box lid to maneuver the marbles through the paint. Process art is an artistic movement where the end product of art and craft, is not the principal focus; the process of its making is one of the most relevant aspects if not the most one.
During the past few weeks at preschool we have been talking about all things apple related! We have done taste testing of red, green and yellow apples, graphing our favorite apples, a rotting apple experiment, made apple crescent rolls for snack, tasted apple cider and apple juice and created apple yarn ornaments, just to name a few!
We love when Mrs. Kane comes to do Second Step with us on Tuesdays! Second Step Early Learning includes a variety of activities that help students learn social-emotional skills. Second Step Early Learning has been shown to improve young students' executive-function skills-like attention, memory, and self-control which are not only predictive of Kindergarten readiness but are essential for success in and outside the classroom.
Come and cheer on our JH Dragon Football team at home, as they take on McCool Junction! Kickoff is Monday, October 9th at 4:30 PM!
Reviewing short vowel sounds is more fun when you can get up and moving!

OCT 31ST: K-6 students are going to "trunk or treat" upstairs in their costumes.
Please return the letter here if you haven't already: https://bit.ly/DPSOCTOBER.
