Number identification, also known as number recognition is the ability to recognize the number that corresponds to a quantity. This is an important skill for preschoolers to develop because it helps them build a foundation for future math understanding. During this activity students were able to use dot markers to identify the numbers 0 and 1.
During this activity, students were given the opportunity to use clothespins to match the uppercase letter shown. By using clothespins, we are able to help children develop strong finger joints and precision by squeezing with their thumb and index finger.
We have been working on letter identification and forming letters in preschool and introduced the wood pieces from our Handwriting curriculum. Students were given the opportunity to use big lines, little lines, big curves and little curves to form letters during small group.
