Yesterday was our last preschool transition day! The students were able to enjoy lunch over at the "big school". They all liked their meal and gave me a thumbs up! Thank you to the kitchen staff for working us in! We appreciate it!
Yesterday we developed upon our physical skills like hand-eye coordination, balance and mobility by playing with the parachute! We strengthened our muscles as our cores and arms were put to work in a gentle but effective way.
The Fifth grade, Mrs Wachtel and Mrs Kane all enjoyed a day of living history at Stuhr Musuem. Today's topic was the Civil War.
A select group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders participated in the Thayer Central Math Contest. This contest consists of an individual test, a team test, and a quiz bowl competition. Makenna Freitag (7th grade) and Jackson Beam (6th grade) both took home 2nd place medals for the individual tests. Congratulations!
SHOE (Students Helping Others Excel) members ate lunch together and recognized the graduating seniors. Faculty sponsors and 8th grade partners appreciate the friendship and guidance extended the last two years and wish Gracie, Bryn, Mallory and Taylor good luck after high school!
Congratulations to sophomore Addyson Hintz. Addyson was selected by the staff to be the sophomore to represent DPS at the Nebraska Leadership Seminar (NLS) this summer at SCC.
NLS is focused on helping Nebraska's youth become leaders who will challenge, empower and inspire!
Jamie (Harms) Calkins was here today to critique the 7-12 band on their music for graduation.
Jamie has been a huge help this year. She was our accompanist for pep band and Spring Concert and has been in to work with our band and choir students many times! Thank you, Jamie!

During this hands on learning activity, students were given the opportunity to further develop their fine motor skills and letter identification skills. Once students unwrapped a letter they were asked to identify the letter and tell us the letter sound.

Last week we started the week off by engaging in play with the Kindergarten class on the playground. It was another successful visit for these preschool kids that will soon be moving on up to Kindergarten!
In true Kaden Lanham fashion, as modest as can be, Kaden shared that he won the Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship last week. This scholarship covers the cost of tuition for five years at any Nebraska public college!

Deshler 7-12 students and staff members took part in a rainy community service day clean up on Friday, April 28th.
