Good luck to the Lady Dragons in the TVC Tournament on Saturday!
Prepare to be impressed with Jordan LeFave's musical talent! Jordan wanted a Contemporary Music class where he could "jam out" with Mr. Mohlman and learn to create music, so we created one, and he is rocking it! Take a listen here to what he has done:

This year students have really enjoyed getting to experience playdoh. We love this! When students are given the opportunity to explore with playdoh it helps them develop fine motor skills, creativity and imagination, eye-hand coordination, social skills, emotional regulation and bilateral coordination. In this activity they were working on making the shape shown and identifying the correct shapes below.
We enjoyed a visit from the Volunteer Fire Department earlier this week. We really appreciate them taking time out of their day to visit and talk about Fire Safety. Thank you!
It's game day, Dragon Nation! 🏈 Info on today's game below:

Fields of Faith 2024 and supper on the road with some of our FCA members in York, NE tonight!
Health sciences has been an identified area of need at DPS. We are fortunate to have hired a health science teacher in the past year. However, this teacher was impeded due to a lack of equipment in her classroom. Through the reVISION Grant award of $100,000, we have been able to start building our Health Sciences area, as well as continuing to build in our other pathway and certification areas.
TCHS helped us to identify areas of need through our partnership with them. We were able to purchase a suture kit, sports nutrition kit, and an EMT package worth nearly $26,000 to help work towards EMT certification for our students in the upcoming years.
Several students have graduated with 30 credits or more in the healthcare sciences field, as well as being CNA certified and have their general education coursework completed as they head into their career field or two- or four-year colleges.
The ReVision Grant helped us to identify needs in our career & technical education fields, such as healthcare. As we work to integrate mentorships for our students, we are proud to announce that Addyson Hintz and Danessa Buckles currently have mentorships through Thayer County Health Services (TCHS). TCHS was one of our business partners in the CTE field, and will be working with us for the EMT certification process.
Developing partnerships and utilizing our advisory council to help to align with industry needs, as well as expanding collaboration with business and industry partners to align our programs taught at DPS, have become a focus for us in terms of our course offerings and pathways. Congratulations to Addy and Danessa on taking this dive into the healthcare field and starting their mentorships early as they prepare for their career fields in occupational therapy (Addy) and speech-language therapy (Danessa).
16 years of age or older? Interested in CNA classes or the healthcare field? Sign up with Mrs. Kane! Classes will be offered at Parkview Haven Nursing Home IF there are at least 5 who sign up. Deadline: Tue, Oct 15th. Class time is flexible to meet your needs!
Good luck to our cross country team in their last JH meet and last regular season HS meet on Thursday in McCool Junction.
Districts for the HS team are on Thu, Oct 17th. GO DRAGONS!
LB 1329 amended Neb. Rev. Statute 79-209 for attendance. What does this mean for your child's attendance? There are excused & unexcused absences. Medical absences need to have documentation (doctor/ortho/dental notes from a medical facility) to be coded as such (different code in PowerSchool).
DPS is required to have a plan in place to deal with excessive absences. We will continue to use our County Attorney for excessive absences after sending warning letters &/or setting up meetings with families to try to make a good faith effort to stop the absences.
Family emergency? Funeral? Illness? We understand there are times your child must be gone. We just have a statuory obligation to have your child in school...and let's be honest, we want them here!
FRI, OCT 11TH: END OF QTR 1. Missing grades need to be completed for Qtr 1 by FRI - so if your child has missing work in PowerSchool, it is DUE (unless it is no longer being accepted by the teacher).
ASP for MS/HS is held tonight & tomorrow - take advantage of this!
